Living in Inglewood, CA: A Renter's Guide to Apartments, SoFi Stadium, LAX & Getting Around [2026]

Inglewood has changed dramatically over the last several years.

The city is now home to some of Southern California's biggest sports and entertainment destinations, including SoFi Stadium, the Kia Forum, Intuit Dome and YouTube Theater. At the same time, Inglewood remains a residential city with established neighborhoods, parks, shopping, local transit and convenient access to other parts of Los Angeles County.

If you're considering renting an apartment in Inglewood, the important question isn't simply whether you want to live near SoFi Stadium.

Think about your commute, airport access, parking, apartment size, laundry, public transportation and how event traffic could affect your routine.

Here's what renters should know before moving to Inglewood in 2026.

Where Is Inglewood?

Inglewood is located in southwestern Los Angeles County, between central Los Angeles, the South Bay and the LAX area.

Its location makes it relevant to renters who regularly travel toward:

  • LAX
  • El Segundo
  • Westchester
  • Culver City
  • Hawthorne
  • the South Bay
  • central Los Angeles

Because traffic patterns vary considerably across Los Angeles, test your real commute during the time of day you normally travel before signing a lease. Our South Bay apartment rental guide compares nearby cities too.

Inglewood Is Now a Major Sports and Entertainment Destination

One of the biggest changes in Inglewood is the concentration of major venues within the city.

SoFi Stadium

SoFi Stadium is home to the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers and hosts major concerts, international sporting events and other large-scale events.

Kia Forum

The Kia Forum is a longstanding Inglewood concert and entertainment venue located near SoFi Stadium.

Intuit Dome

Intuit Dome is the home arena of the Los Angeles Clippers and adds another major sports and entertainment destination to the city.

YouTube Theater

YouTube Theater is part of the Hollywood Park development and hosts concerts, comedy and live entertainment.

These venues make Inglewood one of the most active entertainment areas in Los Angeles County.

For renters, however, there is another side to that convenience: event traffic.

If you are considering an apartment near the entertainment district, check your likely route on both ordinary weekdays and major event nights.

What Is Hollywood Park?

Hollywood Park is the large mixed-use development surrounding SoFi Stadium.

Plans for the district include residential development, offices, retail, restaurants and public open spaces in addition to the stadium and entertainment venues.

The City of Inglewood's current planning documents describe Hollywood Park as including approximately 890,000 square feet of retail uses, as many as 2,500 residential units and up to five million square feet of office space as the development continues to build out.

That continued development is one reason Inglewood looks different today than it did even a decade ago.

Getting Around Inglewood Without a Car

A car remains useful for many Southern California trips, but Inglewood has become considerably more connected to regional transit.

Metro K Line

The Metro K Line currently runs between Expo/Crenshaw and Redondo Beach and serves Inglewood through stations including Downtown Inglewood and Fairview Heights.

Getting to LAX by Metro

The LAX/Metro Transit Center officially opened in June 2025. Both the K Line and C Line serve the station.

From the LAX/Metro Transit Center, travelers can currently use a free shuttle to reach airport terminals while the airport's broader ground-transportation system continues to evolve. Metro also operates multiple bus lines through the transit center (LA Metro: Go Metro to LAX).

For renters who travel frequently, work around the airport or prefer having a rail option, that connection is worth considering.

Inglewood Transit Is Still Changing

Another major project is now underway. On October 22, 2026, the City of Inglewood broke ground on the first phase of the Inglewood Transit Connector.

The initial project includes three mobility hubs, a pedestrian bridge connecting to the Metro K Line and improvements to the Downtown Inglewood streetscape.

The project is intended to improve movement between regional transit and Inglewood's major destinations, particularly during large events.

For renters, the important point is simple: Inglewood's transportation network is still developing.

Don't rely on an old article or map when evaluating an apartment. Check current Metro and City information.

Parks and Outdoor Space in Inglewood

Inglewood also has a network of municipal parks and recreation centers.

Edward Vincent Jr. Park

Edward Vincent Jr. Park is one of the city's larger recreational facilities, located at 700 Warren Lane. The City lists amenities including:

  • walking paths
  • fitness equipment
  • multipurpose fields
  • basketball courts
  • tennis courts
  • playgrounds
  • picnic areas
  • swimming facilities
  • an amphitheater

Other Inglewood Parks

The City's park system also includes locations such as Darby Park, Rogers Park, North Park, Ashwood Park, Center Park and Siminski Park.

Amenities vary significantly from one park to another, so check the City of Inglewood's current park and recreation center listings if a particular activity matters to you.

Downtown Inglewood

Downtown Inglewood centers around Market Street and the surrounding commercial district.

The city continues to use Downtown Inglewood for community events and public programming. For example, the city's 2026 Hispanic Heritage Festival and Classic Car Show was held on Market Street, showing how the downtown district continues to function as a local gathering area as well as a commercial corridor.

The Downtown Inglewood K Line station also makes this part of the city particularly relevant for renters interested in rail access.

Apartments Near SoFi Stadium: What Should You Actually Consider?

"Near SoFi Stadium" is a popular apartment search, but stadium proximity should not be your only criterion.

Before you tour, ask yourself how close you actually want to be to event activity, how you will get to work on event days, and which apartment features matter most to your routine.
